Internship Questions And Answers

Q. Why did you want to be an intern at Lazy Susan?

First of all, I wanted to have an experience in the UK to improve my English and knowledge. Also I wanted to discover the country and the culture. Lazy Susan was the best offer I found, the company is small (not too much), and customer focused. This sector is exactly what I was looking for (International Business/ E-commerce). Then, the company's philosophy and the missions looked interesting. Finally, the salary was high enough to live comfortably in Portsmouth.

Q. What does a typical day in the office look like for you?

Since I started,  I have been working on a lot of different projects. In a typical week I maintain/update the website, manage Lazy Susan's Amazon account and sometimes when customer service is busy, I take and dispatch orders in both English and French while making sure to offer the best service possible. Whenever I need a break, the football table is always here.

Q. What have you learned in your first few months working for Lazy Susan?

I have learnt a lot. I have learnt how to effectively communicate, negotiate and handle product/customer logistics. This has improved my ability to provide good customer service to my clients. Also I have learnt and improved on a few technical skills such as HTML programming. I have had the opportunity to apply what I've learnt in school such as calculating price elasticity to see profits. Overall, in the two months I've been here I think I have learnt more than what some workers have in a year.

Q. How do you like to spend time outside of the office?

I tour England, clubbing or "Netflix and chill"... Sometimes when I remember that I have relatives in France,  I spend hours on phone. At first it was difficult to do it all, but now since I don't work the weekends I have a house, city and friends to spend time with.

Q. What are you enjoying about living and working in Portsmouth?

I really like the fact I am in a big but calm city. It's only an hour drive from London, Brighton and many other nice cities. It's also a very nice place to have a walk along the sea and people are kind wherever I go.

 Q. What would you like to be doing in 10 years from now?

Not sure yet. I think I will either continue to travel, work hard for a company, start my own business or I will do all the above at the same time. We'll see!
