Is there any new BBQ innovations or technology on the market? You would think that such a traditional and timeless method of outdoor cooking has seen its best new technology already and that maybe any new ideas would be in the recipes only. Well Lazy Susan have been doing a little bit of research and we’ve been amazed by the amount of new BBQ innovations and technology that are either launching soon or are already available to buy. With this blog post we wanted to highlight the most innovative BBQ ideas out there that we could find… From revolutionary cooking tools and utensils, to the latest BBQ’s. Whether it be a completely innovative new grill or just new features associated with the BBQ equipment, hopefully we will of included it in this post.
We’ve seen luxury grills, a few bizarre BBQ’s and many other gadgets related to outdoor cooking. The humble BBQ has been a long tradition of slow-cooking in the great outdoors, and while the technique stays the same, the equipment has changed. We’ve progressed from wood and fire to high-tech grills that are more reliable and consistent, ensuring that home outdoor cooking has become both manageable and convenient. Our aim is to get you as fired up about BBQ as we are at Lazy Susan. BBQ is big business in the USA and Americans take it very very seriously. OK they have a climate that lends itself to outdoor cooking a little more than us Brits, but you shouldn’t let that put you off. You simply can’t beat the taste of BBQ and you can always cook it outdoors and eat inside. So if you’re not fired up about BBQ yet, hopefully you will be after feasting your eyes on this little lot.
Breville Indoor BBQ & Grill
Perfect for that UK climate we just mentioned… Non-stick, easy clean surface for perfect grilling indoors. This die-cast indoor grill features adjustable height control for extra versatility. The top plate can be set to six preset heights. On lower settings, this patented feature reduces the weight pressing on more delicate foods for an even grill. Higher settings are ideal for open-face sandwiches and grilled pizzas. Non-stick, easy clean surface for perfect grilling indoors. On lower settings, this patented feature reduces the weight pressing on more delicate foods for an even grill. Higher settings are ideal for open-face sandwiches and grilled pizzas. This might be one of the more expensive indoor BBQ’s, but the construction is excellent. This grill works as a panini press, but also folds completely open to give you around 370 square inches of grilling space, making this one of the largest of the indoor electric BBQ’s on the market. This is a highly versatile unit and if you have not trouble with the higher price tag I’d suggest buying this unit over any of the other options out there. You can pick one up from Amazon.com.
The Exhaust Cooked Burger
A team of Iranian designers came up with this most excellent cooking idea which actually isn’t as disgusting as it first looks. Your car’s exhaust is used as a barbecue to grill your food! That still sounds bad, but consider that the fumes don’t come into contact with the burger, the exhaust just heats the metal grill. Still, it’s not exactly aesthetic. The idea is great for anyone on a road trip and short on cash or needs food in a pinch. The bonus of using your car’s exhaust to heat up a metal grill is that it saves energy because you’re actually driving as you cook the burger anyway. The team of designers actually thought up the idea for a competition hosted by Designboom called Dining in 2015. Over 400 designers from all around the world took part in this interesting competition. Novelty maybe, but we still liked the idea here at Lazy Susan HQ.

The Memphis Two Burner Retro BBQ
The Memphis Two Burner is a retro designed BBQ that looks more like a 1960’s Smeg style fridge than a BBQ. The BBQ is available in red, cream, blue and a rather funky looking pink. Memphis also manufactures retro style patio heaters, so you can add the 60’s theme to your entire patio. The home accessory industry has seen a recent surge in appliances that look retro while providing users with the modern day conveniences and the hi-tech features that they’re used to.
Eva Solo Table Grill

It’s portable and stylish, and it’ll look pretty smart on any table for a bit of hibachi-style cooking. The teak base provides heat protection and the dimensions are 6.3” h x 11.8” diameter.

The Solar Grill
Gone are the days of scorched eyebrows and unintentionally blackened sausages. The Solar Grill cooks your food with the sun’s energy. This New Age BBQ has a flexible mirror, which focuses the sun beams on the barbecue cup allowing it to heat up and cook your food without burning it. Not too sure how long it actually takes to cook your steak but a good idea nevertheless and a big tick in the green department.
The BBQ Briefcase
Take your BBQ with you with the Carry & Go, it all folds down into a handy briefcase-sized carrier and you’re on your way. And the cooking area is ample enough to allow you to cook for the whole family. We’re sure that many people will enjoy at least the novelty of this product, which is priced at a very affordable £25. The mobile grill comes in a stylish bag that boasts a shoulder strap for comfortability and ease of transportation. Overall this is a quality piece that combines fun and function.
Baja BBQ Firepack
Tons of lighter fluid is used to light BBQ’s in the UK every year which contributes to toxic residue on the foods you’re cooking. With the Baja BBQ, the firepack is made of charcoal packaging (100% recycled bio-degradable paper pulp) which quickly ignites by lighting from the bottom. The chimney holes provide the ventilation needed to produce hot coals. The contents are 2 lbs of natural lump charcoal, all of which burn easily, producing hot coals that are ready to cook your meal in 15- 20 minutes without any nasty tastes transferred to your food.
If you live in the city, have a balcony, but struggle for space… Then you need a balcony BBQ! Lazy Susan is convinced this little device is going to be every Londoner’s dream. The shape is exactly like that of a flower boxand simply hangs on your railings and installation is super easy.
Ariete SteakHouse Grill
The makers of the SteakHouse Grill promise that food will cook in half the time without coming into contact with fats, as is true with traditional grilling. The Ariete leaves behind neither smoke nor smell in the kitchen. How does it do it? The vertical position is designed to allow fats to drain from the food into catch trays, preventing them from smoking next to the heating elements. It is kept in a vertical position while cooking by the special internal grill equipped with springs that adapt to foods having different thicknesses, from 3cm down to half a centimetre. They also guarantee that cooking is completed in half the time because the foods cook on both sides at the same time, and without having to turn them over. Lazy Susan is sold on this one.
Don’t you agree that the worst aspect of BBQ cooking is trying to clean your BBQ grill afterwards? Well the Qbag is the answer… This revolutionary new product allows you to cook recipes that contain sauces or smaller ingredients that would normally fall through the BBQ’s gaps and burn onto your grill. Just think, on a nice summers day you can still have great meals that you would normally cook indoors on the hob outdoors on the barbecue. The press (and Lazy Susan on the odd occasion) keep saying that the garden has become the new living room and this product allows you to enjoy that space without the hassle of cleaning up afterwards.
