Outdoor furniture should be constructed to resist the elements

In your garden, there’s definitely no better place to relax than on your patio or decking. Where better can you sit back and enjoy the cool morning summer breeze whilst sipping coffee and reading your favorite newspaper? Or spend a lazy sunny Saturday afternoon with cold drinks, chatting to friends whilst your husband tries (in vain) to light the BBQ.

You simply can’t beat a good patio when the sun is shining. And, if you have a newly built patio, then the most important part of creating that comfort and relaxation is you need to get some good garden furniture to make it complete.

Patio tables, chairs, benches, and plant containers etc will all help to create just the right ambiance. Just make sure that the furniture that you buy for your patio is specifically designed for outdoor use and that it has been built to withstand the worst of what Mother Nature can throw at it…

In the UK we can get some pretty harsh weather conditions, so it’s a good idea to invest in quality outdoor furniture that has been made of corrosion-resistant materials such as wicker, teak, cedar, cast aluminum, wrought iron, or stainless steel.

Outdoor furniture should be constructed to resist the elements

Teak, for example, is quite expensive but for a very good reason. It has been used around the world to construct outdoor furniture for many years as it’s probably the most durable natural material you can get.

Teak outdoor furniture is also known to be attractive, relatively maintenance-free as it is protected by its own natural oils and although expensive, it will last many years to come.

If teak is not your cup of tea and you’re looking for something less ‘tiki’ style and more English country garden, then you might opt for rust-proof and warp-resistant aluminum or stainless steel outdoor furniture?

Just be warned that standard aluminum will over time succumb to harsh elements and strong winds, so it’s advised that you get furniture constructed from the better suited cast aluminum.

Cedar has a natural timeless quality and if properly treated and cared for will resist cracking, rotting, and warping, maintain the natural beauty of the wood for more than 10 years.

On the other hand, if you prefer to have both functional and decorative outdoor patio furniture, then you could go for wrought iron furniture. It does require a little maintenance, however, if it is properly looked after, it can last for many years too.

At Lazy Susan we specifically chose to sell cast aluminium garden furniture, rather than cast iron or wrought iron garden furniture because aluminium patio furniture does not rust.

Whilst wooden furnishings may look attractive in outdoor locations, often they require more care and attention than most people are willing to expend. This is why we focus primarily on items made from aluminium and iron as they can safely be left outside all year round without having to worry about deterioration due to inclement weather conditions.

Whether you purchase a single metal bench or a complete set of chairs, rain will not affect them and they can be wiped dry in a moment, ready for entertaining guests when the sun makes an appearance. Our high quality metal garden furniture, made from iron and aluminium, will not warp or crack owing to moisture in the air and will retain its good looks for many years to come.

This makes the low prices that we charge even more attractive as it will be a long time before you need to consider replacing any of the furnishings in your garden if you buy them from us.

Although the vast majority of our sales are completed online, we always welcome visitors to our warehouse in Chichester, should you wish to try any of the items we stock for comfort before placing your order!
