Donating to a good cause you care about not only benefits the charities themselves, it can be deeply rewarding. As a business, we have found that our charity work has had a positive impact on both staff and customers.
In 2017 a survey of 1,100 people from the UK by Forresters identified that most consumers think businesses should support charities.
And when faced with a choice between two companies offering products/services for the same price, 82% said their decision would be based on who engaged with charities and the local community.
However, at Lazy Susan, we wanted this to be more than just some PR exercise. We really wanted to do some good, and that is why we aligned ourselves with charities that were close to our heart. Charities we believed in, and to which we felt some affinity.
This is the reason we created our partnership with charity: water. We were inspired by their dedication to solving the global water crisis in our lifetime. Seeing first hand how they’ve delivered rural communities with their first access to clean water.
100% of the donations they receive go to funding water projects, helping over 7 million people get clean water, in countries around the globe including Africa, Asia, Central and South America.
We also wanted to use campaign as a way to engage with our customers. To get them involved. As a small family run business with customer service at the core of our operation, that connection with customers is vital to us.
Our Do Some Good charity work has fostered a stronger relationship with many of our customers. They’ve been happy to send us their photographs, helped us work towards a shared goal.

One of our Customer Services team recently dealt with a customer who had an issue with one of our Chloe tables. Basically, one of the fixings for one of the table legs was wrongly cast. It didn’t fit correctly.
The husband worked in an engineering workshop, so he offered to try to fix it. We agreed and offered them a £50 refund if it was successful. They could keep the table. If not they could simply return it and we would of send a replacement.
He was able to fix the issue, and they were more than happy to keep it. Now I appreciate this is above and beyond what we would ever expect a customer to do, but he had the skills to quickly resolve it.
However, this was not the only thing that impressed us here at Lazy Susan. Yes, it is always nice to hear that a customer loves our furniture, but this customer went above and beyond.
They stressed that they were equally as impressed by the ethics of our Do Some Good campaign. That much so that they asked us to donate the £50 refund on their behalf to charity: water.
A generous donation but also a great example of what we truly wanted to achieve with our Do Some Good charity work.
How does our Do Some Good campaign work?
So how can you get involved with our Do Some Good campaign and how does is all work?
When you purchase any of our garden furniture products, all we ask is that you take a photo of your new furniture in situ. Email it to us and the Lazy Susan team will do the rest. We will make a donation to our chosen charities…
We will give:
£10 for any set of customer photos of Lazy Susan furniture in your garden
£20 for your garden furniture all dressed up and ready for lunch or an evening BBQ
It only takes a few minutes to take some photos and do some good. So please let’s get the cameras and phones out and start snapping!

Our chosen charities for 2018
FareShare take surplus food and re-distributes it via 20 regional centres, where it’s used by partner charities at breakfast clubs, homeless hostels and women’s refuges.
Food Cycle serve community meals across the country supporting people who are hungry and lonely. Incredible volunteers serve over 850 meals a week using surplus food.
