Customer Photographs have always been a popular feature in our shop website. Satisfied consumers have been more than happy to share with us some fab shots of their new furniture taking pride of place on their patio. The section was created to really give others a true sense of what our furniture will look like in different settings, and having now collected over 600 images, it has become an invaluable resource.
As a company we’ve strived to be both ethically and environmentally conscious. Charity work plays a big part, with past support going to the likes of the Make A Wish Foundation and Stone Pillow. However, its not something we’ve felt the need to put out there too much.
This time the news felt different, something we wanted to share. The work WaterAid do is very close to our hearts, and the money was raised with the support of our loyal customer base. So why not shout about it?! This blog post will hopefully help raise awareness, and is a big thank you to all the people who contributed to the £4,000 donation we’ve just made.
You were sending us photographs of your new Lazy Susan garden sets on pretty much a weekly basis, so we thought it would be nice to add a little charitable incentive to proceedings. For every photograph you submitted, we decided to donate £20.00 to WaterAid. Simple. We would get some great images of our furniture in situ, and £20.00 would then go to charity.
So why WaterAid?
The choice of which charity for us was an easy one. WaterAid is an international organisation whose mission is to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Through their partners, they’ve been in a position to reach 2 million people with safe water and 3 million people with sanitation in the last year alone.
The water crisis
Diarrhoea caused by dirty water and bad sanitation is the second biggest child killer in the world. A lack of clean water and toilets keeps young girls out of school, stops women from working, and traps many many people in poverty.
WaterAid tackle the crisis from all angles. They work with local partners to deliver clean water and toilets. They campaign tirelessly to make change happen for everyone everywhere.
WaterAid policy and practice
You might think how can water, sanitation and hygiene help end extreme poverty? How does climate change affect the work that WaterAid do? How can we ensure the poorest and most vulnerable people are not left behind? These are just some of the questions you can find the answers to in the policy, practice and advocacy pages of their global site.
Where WaterAid work
WaterAid has teams in 37 countries across the world, working closely with their partners to transform millions of lives each year by improving access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene. More information can be found on the Where we work section of their UK site. Here you’ll find a fully interactive map with details of the setup and work they do in each country.
