Our focus over the last month or so has been our recently launched Outdoor Cooking collection, and whilst that is incredibly exciting, it would be folly to forget what Lazy Susan is all about, and that is our Garden Furniture Collection.
Now, garden furniture and outdoor cooking go hand in hand, so we see our range of Pizza Ovens, Grills and BBQ’s as more new product launches than diversification. It's items we feel compliment our existing core offer of Garden Tables, Chairs, Benches, Parasols, Cushions, Lazy Susans and Sun Loungers.
And that is a theme we will continue into 2022 with some exciting things happening in the coming months!
At Lazy Susan we're on the back of our best year in terms of sales and a spot on that Lightning 50 was recognition of that growth. The pandemic, whilst incredibly difficult on a personal level, has seen homeowners turn to the garden. To look at our outdoor spaces with greater enthusiasm and appreciation of what they can be and what they can do for us in terms of health and well-being.
As an online retailer, we were fortunate. We could keep on keeping on with office staff working from home and our warehouses adhering to the COVID-19 protocols/procedures set out by the British Government. According to research by GlobalData in 2020, gardening was listed as the second most popular lockdown activity after watching TV. It even ranked above cooking, reading and exercising.
...Now we knew it was popular but we were shocked to see it rank above Line of Duty, baking banana bread and Joe Wicks!
Our sales back this is up though, and we’re sure the great weather we had, especially during the first lockdown, clearly played a big part too. However, being locked down, the garden became our outdoor oases, our sanctuaries, a place we could grab a little fresh air, exercise and a little bit of (new) normal.
Even those with limited space such as city balconies, we’re making the most of what little plot they had. As discussed in our garden furniture trends for the summer 2021 article, many of the big trends were inspired by the lockdowns, and we expect to see that continue into summer 2022.
In the lockdowns, we were all looking for and enjoying a little extra home comfort. The fashion industry for example witnessed unprecedented demand for loungewear, which is now reflected on the high street. Delivery firms such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats were busier than ever.
The same was extended to our homes and gardens. It made us realise the importance they play in our lives. It made us appreciate what they can and should be.
And because we’re spending more quality time in them, then we needed them to look good and function.
We want a space that gives us a place we can spend quality time in and that fits with the way we use them. A place to cook, sit and eat good food is at the top of that wish list!

As a general rule:
- We advise that you add 75 cm to the dimensions of the table for the Garden Chairs.
- On top of the 75 cm, we advise that you add an additional 75 cm for what we call ‘working space’ in order to leave room for chairs to be pulled out and for people to safely move around the table when in use.
So, for our Victoria Garden Table at 249 cm long and 177 cm wide, we would recommend that you need around 399 cm x 327 cm of free space for this set. Which, if our maths is correct, is 13.05 m² or 140.44 ft²
The 10+ collection comes in a variety of shapes, sizes and coloured finishes, and we offer a choice of rectangular, oval or square tables in a variety of intricate classical designs.
The advantage of cast aluminium over other materials is that it is high quality but low maintenance, and you’ll find customer reviews at the bottom of each product page (as shown below) that testify this.

As with our 10+, 8 and 6 seater sets, the same general rule applies:

It is important to stress that with all these measurements, the figures are a guide only. Each patio is different, some people like more working space and some less.
Take the dimensions on each product page, measure carefully and calculate if it will work for you.
For example, you might want to push a rectangular or square table against a wall so you can reduce the footprint that way. Our round and oval tables on the other hand tend to require a little less working space due to the soft curves.
If in doubt, mark it out on your patio with a little chalk or some old cardboard boxes, whatever helps you best get a feel for fit and scale.
Once you’ve chosen the right 4 seater garden table, you can stick with the supplied garden chair or again choose to upgrade. 2 Seater Garden Bistro Furniture Sets
A 2 Seater Bistro Sets are the perfect choice for those with limited space or who want to divide their garden up into different zones/functions. Popularised on the streets of Paris, it is the perfect set to bring a little of that chic cafe culture to your patio.
If we take our stylish Rose 2 Seater Garden Bistro Set in White (product page pictured above), this beautiful round garden table measures only 65 cm in diameter (as shown in the diagram/spec below).
As with our 10+, 8, 6 and seater sets, the same general rule applies:
- We advise that you add 75 cm to the dimensions of the table for the Garden Chairs.
- On top of the 75 cm, we advise that you add an additional 75 cm for what we call ‘working space’ in order to leave room for chairs to be pulled out and for people to safely move around the table when in use.
So, for our Rose Bistro Table at 65 cm in diameter, based on our usual principle, you would recommend that you need around 215 cm diameter of free patio space for this set (or 3.63 m² or 39.08 ft²).
However, the reality is, with this being a two-seater set, you require much less 'working' space. You only really need to apply the it to two sides of the table, so it can fit into a much smaller square m/ft footprint.
This set could even fit in as little as 16.57 ft²/1.54 m² at a push with very little wriggle room.
As we advised above, each patio/balcony is different so take the table diameter and the dimensions of each chair, and calculate if it will fit, and see if it will leave you enough free (or working) space to move around and sit comfortably, etc.
As with our larger sets, it is constructed from high-grade cast aluminium and the collection features a range of different styles, colours, table shapes and garden chair options.
The other advantage of a smaller set is the ease with which you can pick it up to move around the garden or into the shed during the winter months.

How we make our Garden Furniture Collection
Our designs are classically styled, just like the traditional sand casting process we use to make them.
Sand casting is an ancient method of moulding molten metal that can be traced back to 4000 BC.
The process starts by creating wooden moulds, placing them into the sand and pouring the molten high-grade aluminium to form a cast.
Once set, the material is removed and the details are carved, creating a mould for each component part of our garden furniture.
The sand casting process is repeated with these moulds and the parts are carefully removed.
Finally, they travel through each workshop being cleaned, polished, powder coated and detailed by hand.

How to assemble Garden Furniture from Lazy Susan
Once your new furniture has been delivered, if for any reason you’re unhappy, please don’t hesitate to contact our Customer Service Team.
When it comes to assembly, it couldn’t be easier.
We supply our collection as self-assembly for the following reasons:
- It allows us to deliver the furniture direct to your front door easily and safely.
- It gives you the option to disassemble and reassemble. For example, you can remove the table legs from the top to store and take up significantly less space in your shed or garage.
- It allows us to create more intricate beautiful designs but with the durability and robust construction needed for outdoor use.
If needed, you’ll find assembly instructions (such as the sample page shown above for our Garden Bench) on each product page in downloadable PDF format.
There’s also easy to follow assembly videos on our YouTube channel should you need them (see the video for Jasmine below).
Where you see a crossed through spanner symbol in our assembly instructions, this means simply that, at this stage, you only need to loosely tighten the bolts in the diagram.
Later in the assembly process, when further sections are attached, you will be prompted to tighten them up using the spanner provided.
This is especially important when attaching your table legs to the top. It needs to be done loosely at first, to allow you to position the legs onto the underside of the tabletop later.
On some items, such as chairs, you may find that certain nuts and bolts have already been attached to the individual parts, for your convenience. This is mainly true for the bases of your chairs.
All other fixings are provided for you in a separate bag.
